Hypnum Moss Care Sheet
Scientific Name: Hypnum cupressiforme
Lighting Requirements:
Hypnum moss prefers low to moderate indirect light. Full-spectrum LED grow lights help maintain its lush green color. Avoid direct sunlight, as it can dry out the moss quickly.
Humidity & Watering:
This moss thrives in high humidity (70-90%) and should be misted regularly to keep it moist. Use RO, distilled, or dechlorinated water to prevent mineral buildup. It does best in environments with consistent moisture.
Temperature Range:
Ideal temperatures range between 55-75°F. Hypnum moss is adaptable but should be protected from extreme heat or cold.
Substrate & Placement:
Hypnum moss grows well on moisture-retentive substrates such as sphagnum moss, coconut fiber, or bioactive soil. It also thrives on logs, rocks, and other hardscapes, forming soft, carpet-like growth.
Growth & Maintenance:
This moss grows in dense mats and requires minimal upkeep. No trimming or fertilization is necessary. If it appears dry, increase misting to restore its vibrant green appearance.
