Welcome to The Bio Dude!
Common Name: Lickety Split Philodendron
Scientific Name: Philodendron selloum
-Care Recommendations By The Dude-
Best for These Animals: Dart frogs and other tropical reptiles and amphibians
Bio Dude Substrates: TerraFlora, TerraFauna, TerraFirma
Soil Depth: 6" depth recommended minimum
Lighting: Low to Medium
Humidity & Misting: 40%-100%
Mature Plant Size & Root System: Unlike some philodendrons, the growth tends to be more clumping than vining, even as the plant matures. Can take semi-aquatic habitats, and roots will grow out, even into pools of water.
Temperature Tolerance & Placement in the Terrarium: Can take high temperatures if adequate watering, however it will burn or turn brown if it is placed directly under a heat lamp or basking light. Works excellent adjacent to decorative waterfalls or pools of water, where it can get splash back and its roots can grow out even into pools of water without worry of over-watering the plant.
Does best towards the back or far sides of most terrariums, since its mature width of 2 to 3 feet can cause it to grow against the terrarium glass or front doors.
Edible & Side Effects if Ingested: Can be toxic to cats, dogs, and humans if ingested in large amounts. Fine for reptiles and amphibians.
Pot Size & Packaging: A single 6" potted lickety split plant is shipped in a plastic pot, and rolled up in paper.
