Bromeliads are beautiful terrarium plants that not only thrive in humid and semi-humid biomes, but are very unique regarding their variety of sizes, colors and shapes. Many reptiles and amphibians love utilizing the axils (points where two or more leaves come together at the stem) of these epiphytes (plants that grow up in trees) to access clean, fresh water and also to rest, hide, and even lay their eggs in them. In addition to being sources of water and shelter, these bromeliads grow above the forest floor, high in the canopy and undercanopy of the rainforest, making them particularly attractive to arboreal (tree-dwelling) animals. It is very important to use a very well drained soil if planting directly in substrate and to provide effective airflow throughout the terrarium. Stagnant air will quickly kill these plants.
Shipped wrapped in paper, air plants and bromeliads will always be packaged in their own box, separate from other products.
