Endemic to the state of Bahia in northeastern Brazil, this species commands attention the moment it enters a room. A jet-black body set ablaze with vivid scarlet-red setae on the abdomen and leg joints creates a color contrast that is nothing short of stunning — and at a potential leg span exceeding 10 inches, there is simply no missing it.
Despite its imposing size, L. klugi is a relatively bold and straightforward species to keep. It is an active, fast-growing terrestrial that will make the most of a spacious enclosure and reward its keeper with frequent visibility.
