Product Description

Acanthophrynus coronatus – Baja Whipscorpion

Meet one of the most impressive amblypygids on the planet. Acanthophrynus coronatus, the Baja Whipscorpion, is native to the arid scrublands and rocky outcroppings of Mexico's Baja California peninsula — a landscape that has forged a species as tough as it is stunning. Adults routinely achieve a 14–16" whipspan, making this one of the largest and heaviest whipspiders in the world. Imagine the reaction when your customers see those massive, outstretched antenniform legs for the first time.

Why Collectors Love This Species

Striking coloration — Bold orange pedipalps contrast dramatically against a dark body, making this one of the most visually arresting amblypygids available in the hobby.
Drought tolerant & hardy — Adapted to Mexico's dry, rocky terrain, A. coronatus thrives in low-humidity setups and forgives the occasional husbandry lapse — ideal for intermediate keepers and display collections alike.
Impressive size — One of the largest whipspiders in the world by body mass and whipspan. A true showstopper in any invertebrate collection.
Docile temperament — Like most amblypygids, this species is non-venomous and generally calm, making it a compelling conversation piece for hobbyists and educators.
