Cherry Red is a striking Philodendron variety known for its colorful new growth. New leaves emerge in rich red to copper tones before gradually maturing to shades of deep green, creating excellent contrast in a tropical bioactive enclosure.

Soil Depth: Prefers moderate to deep soil with good drainage. Its root system will appreciate plenty of room to establish as the plant matures.
Lighting: Low to medium light, or bright indirect light. Brighter indirect lighting can help encourage stronger growth and coloration. Do not place directly under a heat or basking lamp.
Humidity & Misting: 40% - 100%. Prefers consistently moist soil and higher humidity, but the substrate should be allowed to drain properly and should not remain waterlogged.
Mature Plant Size & Root System: Cherry Red has an upright, self-heading growth habit rather than the long trailing vines produced by many other Philodendrons. As it matures, it develops increasingly larger leaves and a vigorous root system. It can be selectively pruned as necessary to maintain an appropriate size for the enclosure.
Temperature Tolerance & Placement in the Terrarium: 60 - 85 degrees Fahrenheit tolerated, with warm tropical conditions preferred. Its upright growth habit makes it an excellent mid-ground plant when young or a background and corner specimen as it matures. Give the plant adequate space for its foliage to spread.
Edible & Side Effects if Ingested: Philodendrons are members of the family Araceae, so they contain calcium oxalate crystals known as raphides. Ingestion may cause oral irritation, but Philodendrons are not commonly consumed by reptiles or amphibians.
