Common Name: Korean Rock Fern, Tsu-sima Holly Fern
Scientific Name: Polystichum tsus-simense
-Care Recommendations By The Dude-
Best for These Animals: Small and moderate-sized reptiles and amphibians from tropical and temperate climates. Can also withstand the weight/wear-and-tear associated with certain larger animals, like large frogs or mature corn snakes.
Bio Dude Substrates: TerraFlora, TerraFauna, TerraFirma
Soil Depth: All soil depths with proper drainage
Lighting: Low to medium
Humidity & Misting: 60%-100%, with higher humidity levels suggested for optimal growth.
Mature Plant Size & Root System: These easy-to-grow, durable ferns will form a tight clump of green fronds that can max out at 18-20", though they can be selectively pruned. It spreads via short basal shoots that will keep it relatively compact as it ages.
Temperature Tolerance & Placement in the Terrarium: Too high temperatures/low humidity may cause leaves to brown. Too high light intensity will also cause fronds to crisp! Best used as a front (low) groundcover, underplanting, or mounted (only in high humidity conditions).
Edible & Side Effects if Ingested: Non-Toxic if consumed, though these are typically used for ornamental, not edible, purposes.
Pot Size & Packaging: A single 4" potted fern is shipped in the pot, wrapped in paper.
