A complete bioactive terrarium kit for Breviceps macrops, or most commonly know as the Desert Rain frog!
This adorable species of frog is native to a very slim strip of land along the coast, in Namibia and South Africa. This area is characterized by sandy shores and sand dunes that frequently experience fog, which the frog has perfectly adapted to thrive in this specialized environment. During dry spells, they will burrow deep down into the substrate, awaiting the next fog to roll in. A neat aspect of this species, due to their arid climate, do not have an aquatic tadpole stage; froglets will emerge from eggs deep down in burrows where females have laid them, immediately ready to feast on unsuspecting moths, beetles, and other insects! More commonly, are they know for their 'ferocious' tactic of squeaking when stressed or bothered.
With The Dude's Terra Sahara, you are able to recreate a habitat that makes your Desert Rain frog feel more secure. Microflora is included (BioShot), we recommend supplementing with Arid springtails and Isopods for microfauna. Not only will the substrate retain all tunnels and burrows that your frog creates, but it also allows them to do what they like to do as critters! This kit includes everything that you need to get started going bioactive, including additional substrate necessary to create a perfect substrate depth.
This kit does not contain the enclosure, clean up crews, or any UVB or heating elements your pet will need!
