Welcome to The Bio Dude!
The String of Pearls (Senecio rowleyanus) is a unique and interesting plant that is known for its trailing stems of small, bead-like leaves that resemble a string of pearls. This succulent is native to South Africa and is commonly grown as a houseplant or in hanging baskets.
The leaves of the String of Pearls are spherical in shape and are approximately 0.25-0.5 inches (0.6-1.3 cm) in diameter. They are a pale green color and have a waxy texture. The stems of the plant can grow up to 3 feet (90 cm) in length and can trail or climb depending on how they are trained.
String of Pearls plants are easy to care for and prefer bright, indirect light. They should be watered sparingly, as the plant is adapted to drought conditions and is susceptible to root rot if overwatered. The plant is also sensitive to cold temperatures and should be kept in a warm, humid environment.
