-Care Recommendations By The Dude-

Best for These Animals: Small frogs and other amphibians, along with small reptiles.

Bio Dude Substrates: Terra Flora, Terra Fauna, Terra Firma.

Soil Depth: All soil depths.

Lighting: Low to medium, or bright indirect light.  Do not place under a basking or heat lamp.

Humidity & Misting: 40% - 100%; prefers higher humidity levels for optimal growth.

Mature Plant Size & Root System: Can ultimately reach over a foot high, and a little over a foot wide, with soft, bright red leaves 2 - 3 inches in length and width. Leaves will typically die back during the winter, regardless of conditions in a terrarium.  Root system will spread outwards, generally shallow, from a central bulb.  Over time, other bulbs may form and cluster around the central bulb.

Temperature Tolerance & Placement in the Terrarium: Prefers temperatures between 60 - 80 degrees Fahrenheit.  Does best as an understory planting.

Edible & Side Effects if Ingested: Caladiums contain insoluble calcium oxalates, which can cause oral irritation, pain, swelling, and other symptoms and are mildly toxic to humans, cats, and dogs. Amphibians and reptiles usually don't eat it, so they should not have any problems with toxicity.

Pot Size & Packaging: A single 4" potted caladium bulb is shipped in the pot, wrapped in paper.
