Uromastyx Starter Plant Pack

Product Description

A handpicked selection of the Dude's best desert plants for Uromastyx. These desert dwelling lizards live in some of the hottest parts of the planet. The plants included in this kit can not only handle the arid, hot temperatures their husbandry requires, but also their weight and foraging habits. Being herbivores, Uromastyx are foraging constantly in the wild, taking in water and nutrients when they can. Offering them the ability to rip at a cactus, climb a small edible tree and succulents available not only gives them options to forage, but allows them to follow their natural instinct.

Note: These are larger plants that require a deep layer of Terra Sahara + moderate height (at least 14").

All plants are grown 100% organically with no pesticides, herbicides, or fertilizers.

Included in this kit is:

6" Pot - Opuntia Spineless Cacti. 12"-18" tall.

6" Pot - Crassula Jade or Elephant Feed. 6"-10" tall.

4" Pot - Aloe plant. 6"-8" tall.

Opunita Cactus- Hands down one of the best desert plants to use. These tough, spineless cacti are not only naturally high in Calcium, but take work to eat. Your lizard will work, scratch, gnaw until they can get that fresh piece off. Easy to grow and maintain and will benefit your lizard if ingested.

Elephant Feed - These small shrub-like trees are a great option to give your lizard a taste of something a little different. High in moisture, these succulents are very strong, and can handle the weight of your lizard climbing, perching, basking and doing what they love to do. Some lizards may even darken their skin to help blend in with this tree at night time. Having the ability to get high when the sun goes down helps them feel more comfortable.

Aloe plants - A great addition to your vivarium as they are very easy to grow, can handle a beating, and can handle being uprooted. It is also very high in moisture so if ingested can have a rehydration benefit -however, if eaten in excess can cause looser (wet) stool due to the higher moisture content.

It is also recommended to plant more healthy edibles in with your Uro's. Mint, basil, oregano, rosemary, hibiscus, kale, and lettuce are all examples of plants you can establish in your vivarium to give your terrarium a nice clean smell while providing natural food and enrichment for your lizard.

Plant may be switched, due to availability, to similar plants.
